Cloud Pillar, Israel is preparing for a new war
News from the borders of Israel speak of the first barrels preceding a new war, just like the operation Cast Lead. After the death of the military leader of Hamas and the first Palestinian rocket attacks on Israelian territory, the scenary is becoming more dangerous compared to a few years ago because it could expand rapidly.
Egypt, after Mubarak, withdrew its ambassador from Tel Aviv, condemning the Israeli military action against Palestinian brothers.
The other bad news is that the Israeli government has called up all reservists, preparing for a new military action which could cross over Syria if necessary.
In this climate of preventive war fomented by Prime Minister Netanyahu, the news from Washington is alarming. In his first official speech after his re-election, Barack Obama has made it clear how the Assad regime in Syria must come to an end, mainly because of biological weapons in the hands of the Syrian government threatening neighboring countries and NATO allies.
The last time the U.S. spoke of biological threats, with fabricated evidence, the military operation that wiped out the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq, started. This time, however, the situation is quite different. In front of a joint attack of Turkey, Israel and the U.S. to Syria, the reaction from the countries of the Arab League could be harder than expected, while Egypt might take the plunge and break decades of neutrality in the area.
In the Middle East, a conflict which seems much more serious than anything seen before since the Six Day War, might flare up.
